Women’s retreatsCabin retreatsSmall groups

Time outdoors in Finnish Lapland, at your own pace. Small-group retreats with huskies, skis and wooden cabins in the wild, guided personally by Ciara and Susi.

Why a Lapland retreat

Snow, space and time outdoors

Äkäslompolo sits on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, a corner of Lapland known for some of the cleanest air on Earth.

Small groups, big space. Our retreats are capped at four guests, so there is time for every guest and every dog. Days follow the light and the snow rather than a busy timetable.

Your own husky. On the Women’s Dog Skiing & Cabin Retreat you are paired with your own husky and learn skijoring with a Fjellpulken pulk: you ski, your husky helps pull, and you move as one team.

Cabins in the wild. Nights are spent in cosy wooden cabins with the forest at the door. On clear evenings, step outside and look up for the Northern Lights.

Food that fuels you. Three vegetarian meals a day, planned for energy on the trail, with vegan and gluten-free options always available.

Guided personally by us. Susi has spent over two decades working with dogs as a veterinary technician, and Ciara has guided multi-day husky expeditions in Northern Finland, works as a sea kayaking guide and windsurfing instructor, and trained as an outdoor instructor in Connemara, Ireland.

Questions about our Lapland retreats

Who are the retreats for?

The Women’s Dog Skiing & Cabin Retreat is a women-only trip for up to 4 guests. Our day tours, retreats and the cabin stays we host welcome everyone: solo travellers, couples, friends and families.

Do I need experience with dogs or skiing?

No dog experience is needed; we teach you everything about working with your husky. For the skijoring retreat you need some skiing experience: you should be comfortable on skis and able to brake and turn. If skiing is new to you, arrive a week earlier for a 3–4 day ski course on the Ylläs slopes.

What is included in the women’s retreat?

Four nights in two cabins, your own husky partner, all equipment (skis, boots, poles, Fjellpulken pulk, waist belt and harness), guiding and instruction, three vegetarian meals a day, and transfers from Äkäslompolo or Kittilä Airport. You bring your own outdoor clothing and personal snacks.

Where is Äkäslompolo?

Äkäslompolo is a village at the foot of Ylläs fell in Kolari municipality, Finnish Lapland, on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. Kittilä Airport is about an hour away and Levi is less than an hour’s drive.

Can I stay longer?

Yes. Book extra nights at the cabin if available, or in Äkäslompolo, and add a husky walk, snowshoe tour or ski rental. We are happy to help you plan it.
